Yesterday, at 4:45am President Harry S. Truman of the United States of America ordered the atomic bomb, the world’s largest and most devastating bomb, to be dropped by a B-29 Superfortress on the Japanese island of Hiroshima. The atomic bomb is said to be over 20,000 times the power of the conventional bomb dropped by B-29 planes. The B-29 Superfortress which dropped the bomb was named Enola Gay after the pilot's mother. Word from the crew had just reached us earlier today, they say that it took a long forty-five seconds before the atom bomb blew up. “The blast was blinding for the first few seconds, even threw our goggles.” Said Captain Robert Lewis, the co-pilot of the Enola Gay, “We all stood in the small cockpit waiting for Colonel Tibbets to circle us back around for a better look.” He recalled. “We were all aghast at the sight of the dirt cloud that reached a point we assumed was around sixty thousand feet high. It looked like a giant mushroom of dust. We tried to see how much damage the bomb we just dropped caused but we couldn't because of all the dust covering the ground.”
The final line for the Potsdam declaration that was proposed by the United States, as terms for Japanese surrender, was “The alternative for Japan is prompt and utter destruction.” Yesterday it was proven that it wasn’t a hollow threat. We have officially entered a new era of war and we should hope the world does not end up in a nuclear war.

Japanese plan Surprise Attack on American Navy Base
Sunday December 14th, 1941

Just before 8 on Sunday December 7, just one week ago, the Japanese began their attack on Pearl Harbour. Within 2 hours five battleships had been sunk, another 16 damaged. 188 planes destroyed. Only around 100 Japanese died but over 2400 Americans killed and another 1175 injured. The attack came as a surprise to the Americans even though the attack had been brewing for years.
Why? Because the Japanese were tired of negotiations with the Americans. They
wanted to continue their expansion into Asia, but the Americans had placed extremely restrictive embargos with Japan. They hoped it would change Japans aggression, but solving their differences didn't go so well. Also the Japanese conquered Man Churia which had been a part of China until then. The Americans were alarmed by this so they sent military support to China and cut off Japans oil, and other raw materials. Which made Japan even more upset with the Americans.
